  • 6 hours of English or Communications

  • 12 hours of Humanities and/or Social Sciences courses
  • 24 hours of Life and Physical Sciences courses to include:
    • Courses in Biology, Anatomy and Physiology
    • 8 hours of General and Organic Chemistry is recommended
  • Electives to fulfill the required 90 semester hours

Alternative Admissions Track Plan (AATP)

If you do not have the prerequisite science courses and have a high GPA, or if your GPA is below 3.00 but between 2.75-2.99, you may be considered for admission under the Alternative Admissions Track Plan (AATP).

Students admitted under AATP will be given a personalized educational plan to optimize their opportunity for success. Contact an admissions advisor for additional information.

• Submit your official high school transcript showing a date of graduation and a minimum grade point average of 2.50 on a 4.00 scale. (A GED credential certification or verification from an accredited appropriate home-school agency will also satisfy this requirement.)
• Submit official ACT or SAT composite test scores. Requires composite test score of 21 or above for the ACT or 1060 or more for the SAT. (The ACT code is 6545.)
• Submit official post-secondary transcript(s) reflecting successful completion of at least 24 college semester units with a minimum grade point average of 2.50 on a 4.00 scale if you have completed college credits. Applicants with 24 college credits do not need to submit ACT/SAT scores or high school transcripts.
• A non-refundable tuition deposit, which is credited to the first trimester’s tu­ition, is required within 60 days after being accepted into the program.

Please note that admission to Cleveland University-Kansas City is separate from admission to our Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree programs.

Students desiring admission to an A.A.S. degree program at CUKC must:

• Submit a completed online Application for Admission to the Associate of Arts in Biological Sciences at Cleveland University-Kansas City with your application fee and official high school or college transcripts.
• Submit official test scores, an ACT composite test score of 21 or above, or an SAT composite test score of 1060 or above.
• Successfully complete all prerequisite courses with a grade of C or better and a grade of B or better for science courses.
• Submit proof of all immunizations and proof of a current physical examination.
• Pass required drug screenings and background checks.
• Meet physical requirements and demonstrate the ability to deliver services in a safe and effective manner with or without reasonable accommodations.
• On acceptance to CUKC and successful completion of the A.A.S. prerequisites selected applicants will participate in a professional panel interview.
• Complete all steps outlined in the program application packet available on our website or by contacting an advisor.

Guaranteed Admission

Students who complete all their required general education coursework at CUKC with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above at the time of application to the A.A.S. degree program will be granted admission provided that all other criteria for admission are met and all other additional considerations are satisfactory.

Provisional Admission

Applicants with 24 college credits do not have to submit ACT/SAT scores or a high school transcript, but must submit official post-secondary transcript(s) reflecting successful completion of at least 24 college units.

Students who do not meet the automatic admission requirements will be reviewed individually for possible admission on a trial basis. If admitted, students may be required to participate in an academic support program as a condition of their admission.

Cleveland University-Kansas City will accept credits from institutions accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of the Council on Chiropractic Education or credits from an accredited professional college in instances where quality, content and credit units are equivalent to that of Cleveland’s standards.

Credits used to satisfy the minimum prerequisites for admission may not be used for advanced placement credit.

To be eligible for transfer credit consideration, post-secondary coursework must:

• Meet the current prerequisites in force at Cleveland University-Kansas City
• Have a grade of “C” (2.00 on a 4.00 scale) or better as recorded on an official transcript for consideration of transfer.
• Be earned within five years of the date of admission to Cleveland University-Kansas City.

The University may waive this requirement for persons holding a first professional degree in the healthCare sciences (e.g., M.D., D.O., D.D.S., D.P.M.) or an academic degree (M.A., M.S., Ph.D.) in a related discipline from a regionally accredited institution.

Advanced standing or transfer credit may be awarded for non-clinically-related academic courses if they were taken at the master’s degree level or higher.

On completion of the above, consideration for enrollment will be given by the Admission Committee. Applicants may be requested to participate in an interview, which will consider the applicant’s professional attitude, motivation and ability to communicate.

A student transferring from another chiropractic college must be in good standing at that institution. A student admitted into the Doctor of Chiropractic degree program as a trimester one student is not eligible to apply for transfer credit for coursework taken at a chiropractic college.

A student may be required to demonstrate proficiency via written and/or practical examination in any or all coursework for which transfer credit is sought. The examination must be completed prior to the trimester in which the course would normally be taken. A student may be required to audit any course for which transfer credit is awarded.

In all cases of transfer credit requests, the Scholastic Regulations Committee may make exceptions to this policy on a case-by-case basis, and its decisions are final. Any applicant found to have illegally altered a document or to have misrepresented information as a part of their application shall be permanently disqualified from admission to Cleveland University-Kansas City.

• Submit proof of proficiency in English, as required by the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service, by completing the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a passing score of 550 or better (paper-based test), 79-80 (internet-based) or 213 or better (computer-based test).

  Testing information may be obtained by writing to TOEFL, Box 899, Princeton, NJ 08504. This requirement is waived if the applicant earned an undergraduate or advanced degree at an accredited institution in the United States.

• Submit evidence of having the financial resources, or funding commitment, as required by the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service, to complete a minimum of one calendar year of education (three trimesters).
• Comply with the laws, rules, and regulations of the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service.
• Have their academic documents evaluated by World Education Service or a service approved by the Director of Admissions. Contact the Office of Admissions regarding evaluation service forms and procedures.
• Meet the same educational requirements (or international equivalency) as United States citizens.
• Submit proof of valid health insurance coverage.
• Submit a copy of the page of the applicant’s valid passport including name, date of birth, passport number, expiration date, photo, and signature.

As of September 2004, the Department of Homeland Security requires all new I-20 students to pay an I-901 fee prior to applying for a VISA. Proof of payment is required at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate.

NOTE: If you currently have an I-20 and F-1 visa from another educational program, you may be eligible for a transfer I-20 and F-1 visa. Immediately notify your current institution of your intent to transfer. A letter of acceptance must be sent to your current institution in order to authorize your transfer as required by the Bureau of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (UCSIS). (Canadian citizens are not required to have a Visa to study in the U.S. The only document needed is the I-20.)
